This entry-level membership is open to anyone undertaking an appropriate full or part-time course of study within the UK.

This entry-level membership package is open to individuals who have successfully completed an appropriate course of study as they work to gain the professional experience required for Professional Membership Entry, the standard route to gaining chartered status.

Professional Membership

Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters is an internationally recognised badge of excellence, a quality standard for experienced professionals, which demonstrates their capacity for independent, competent, and ethical practice, and which carries the designation of Chartered Forester or Chartered Arboriculturist.

As a Chartered Forester or Chartered Arboriculturist, you will use your expertise and experience to advocate for high professional standards in our sector; you will grow your talent and influence by joining committees and panels, and develop your leadership skills as you make your voice heard across the sector.

Fellowship

Fellowship is the highest level of membership attainable within the Institute of Chartered Foresters. It acknowledges your accomplishments, your professional standing, and your long-term commitment to our mission of raising the professional standards of forestry and arboriculture in the UK.

As a Fellow of the Institute, you will inspire the next generation of Forestry and Arboriculture professionals. You will strengthen the voice of the Institute and use your experience and your position to influence the future of the sector.

All Professional Members should aspire to attain Fellowship. Applications are open to individuals from every part of the sector, who have been Professional Members of the Institute of Chartered Foresters for at least five years, and who have at least ten years’ professional experience.

Chartered Environmentalist

The Society for the Environment is a partnership of more than twenty professional bodies who together guard the quality, relevance, and awareness of the Chartered Environmentalist register.

It ensures that every Chartered Environmentalist has the required knowledge, experience, and competence to deliver the highest possible standards for their profession.

Professional membership of the Society for the Environment reflects the broad impact of the practice of professionals working in environmental sectors.

As a Licensed Body, Chartered Foresters and Chartered Arboriculturists who work in the wider environmental sector can apply through the Institute of Chartered Foresters for Chartered Environmentalist status.
