Job description

The More Coppice Into Productive Management Project aims to improve the understanding of where coppice woodland is located and its condition, as well as to prioritise and promote the active management of coppice woodlands for a wide range of environmental and socio-economic benefits, including coppice products. The Project was initially funded for the South West region and further funding has been recently secured for other specified regions via the Forestry Commission’s ‘Woods Into Management Forestry Innovation Fund (WIMFIF)’.

Working alongside the MCIPM National Steering Group, surveyors and other technical specialists, the new regional roles will work to identify and engage with potential partner projects and landowners within their target region, facilitate surveying and the data collation of identified coppice woodland sites, and fulfil certain operational functions to help drive the Project to a successful outcome. We are looking for people with a passion for coppice woodlands and who have practical experience of managing coppice woodlands and a demonstrable track record in helping deliver a brighter future for woodland and people. Particular technical expertise such as environmental/forestry project research, use of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), woodland assessment and management, and stakeholder engagement/outreach is also desirable.
