As part of Velcourt, the UK’s largest farm management company, we can positively realise the synergies between forestry and farming at a time when woodland management and creation are now firmly on the agenda in the rural sector.
To expedite and professionally manage these opportunities we are looking to grow and strengthen our team with the appointment of a Senior Forest Manager, to be based out of our Martley office near Worcester. The ideal candidate would be a motivated team leader, who will share our passion to drive the business forward, to develop their own team and influence the future landscape for our clients. We want someone who will grab the opportunity with both hands and work with us as a proactive member of the senior management team.
This is a refreshingly different kind of opportunity, to be part of a very different kind of forestry company. You will have the freedom and autonomy to lead and run your projects, enabling you to be entrepreneurial and innovative within the supportive framework of the business.
With an emphasis on the traditional estate, the role is responsible for a wide and varied mix of independent, bespoke forest management services to a range of clients from consultancy to the delivery of all forestry operations, with projects typically including woodland creation and regeneration, timber harvesting and marketing, surveys and valuations and GIS mapping.
Responsibilities include:
- Client meetings
- Team management & planning
- Budgets & financial planning
- Site inspections & work proposals
- The delivery of budgeted work programmes
- Writing, submitting & negotiating grant applications in both England and Wales
- Carbon & natural capital evaluations
- Report writing.
We pride ourselves on providing a high quality, client focused and independent service and you will be expected to deliver and maintain the highest standards and professionalism that the business is founded on.
Forestry experience is essential and ideally candidates will hold professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters and/or RICS or be working towards it. The position requires a professional mindset, attention to detail and a caring attitude with a good understanding of the rural sector.
Bronwin & Abbey offers a comprehensive package which includes a competitive salary, contributory pension, health insurance, company car and a bonus scheme worth up-to 20% of salary. Professional and career development is strongly encouraged for all members of staff and training will be provided across a range of topics.
