Job description

Veon is looking to recruit Operations Foresters to join our growing team throughout Ireland. As a company offering services to the forestry, ecology, environmental and arboriculture sectors, the successful candidates must demonstrate a knowledge of good forestry practice while also being committed to providing practical solutions for our clients to a high standard. Our company offers a broad range of services in all aspects of forestry all of which will provide you with a breadth of experience in this field.

The primary role will involve managing forestry operations on a day-to-day basis operating to tight deadlines. The role reports to the Regional Manager.

We offer flexibility in relation to the location of the role and the successful candidate can be based at any of our Offices, in Dublin (head Office), Kilkenny, Galway, Limerick, Longford and Leitrim.  The roles are generally focused on specific regions in the country but as part of a growing organisation, the roles will require you to be flexible.

The Role

  • Arranging forestry operations such as establishment, roading, harvesting operations, maintenance, and other services
  • Preparing licence applications for all licenced forestry activities and schemes
  • Contractor supervision to meet operational requirements and standards
  • Generation of operational budgets and budget control
  • Assist with promotion, marketing, and sales activities
  • Detailed focused to ensure adherence of Veon’s operational and health & safety standards
  • Ensure operations are completed according to project deadlines
  • Compliance with industry legal requirements and guidelines

 

Requirements of Operations Forester Role

  • Relevant Third Level qualification in Forestry
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Excellent IT and GIS skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong organisational, administrative and communication skills
  • Knowledge of current legal requirements and guidelines as they relate to forestry
  • Candidates should be chartered or working towards chartered status
