Job Introduction

Landmarc Support Services is recruiting for a Forestry Works Manager. Working as part of the North Region Project Management Office (PMO), you will be responsible for managing contracts for timber harvesting, woodland site restoration, preparation and restocking, the establishment of new plantations, tree safety works and ash dieback operations. In addition, you will be taking on a number of projects to conserve and enhance the natural and historic environment of the Defence Training Estate.

Main Responsibilities

  • Project manage a programme of Forestry Works (e.g. harvesting, Ash dieback works, other tree H&S works, reinvestment and planting). This includes all project phases from scoping, tendering, overseeing the delivery of works and sign-off.
  • Supervise forest workers and contractors in the field regarding compliance with statutory, mandatory and contractual obligations; communicating with main contractors and subcontracting companies.
  • Ensure forest operations are carried out to professional health and safety standards, to established industry best practice and to discharge the duty of care in all respects.
  • Provide HO Forestry & Arboriculture Adviser with region-specific input in the planning and implementation of annual work programmes and ensure the effective use of resources to meet the current objectives of the forest area.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and other developments in the industry. A good knowledge of FISA guidance is vital.
  • Work to, and maintain, good forest practice within Landmarc and supply chain.
  • Deliver the NEC3 / NEC4 process.
  • Carry out any other duties as stated by the regional team.
