We provide a comprehensive range of forest, estate and land-related services underpinned by our in-depth market experience, knowledge base and commitment to quality. The business is largely employee owned, and this encourages a dedication and commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and customer focus. Our aim is to understand each client’s specific objectives and then to provide a service which is both flexible and personal. In Wales and the neighbouring counties of England, we trade as Flintshire Woodlands.

The UK government has committed to a target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, resulting in an increasing interest and support for existing forestry and new woodland creation. As a result, our work programmes have increased and Flintshire Woodlands is seeking to engage with enthusiastic professionals, who have a passion for Forestry who can offer a fresh and visionary way of thinking. This is an exciting opportunity to join our progressive team to service new and existing clients. This position will also play a key role in shaping the future of forestry in the UK.

As a key member of a high-performing team, operating in a competitive and commercial environment, you will be collaborating with clients, government agencies and stakeholders. You will demonstrate excellent communication and organisation skills, together with the ability to identify, analyse and solve technical problems. As an Assistant Forest Manager / Forest Manager within Flintshire Woodlands, we offer a fast paced, varied, and extremely rewarding career based in Chirk, North Wales. Our managers will typically work in a flexible and healthy work environment, working for an employer who wants to see employees thrive and develop as individuals within their operational teams.

The role will involve all aspects of woodland management and new woodland creation. You will be required to assist/prepare and manage budgets; undertake report writing; produce client reports; attend client meetings; the preparation, negotiation and submission of Forest Plans and Grant Applications and other related permissions; cost control, operational planning; as well as site supervision, timber harvesting and safety management.

To be successful in this role, you must be professional, self-motivated and be capable of working on your own and as part of a team. Previous operational experience in a similar role, along with the relevant academic qualifications are highly desirable. These positions may also suit someone with an environmental, geography, agricultural or rural surveying background who wishes to enter the forestry sector. We are looking for candidates with professional acumen who are commercially aware and have a sound understanding of the rural sector. Candidates must be highly organised with excellent communication skills, be IT literate and have a sound knowledge of silviculture. Experience of working with contractors, project management and managing health & safety are all highly desirable.

The role offers good opportunity for progression within the business for the right candidate. A current full driving licence is required to perform the remit of the role. Candidates should have chartered status or be working towards it.
