Alec Rhodes MICFor – Woodland Creation Incentives Team Manager, Forestry Commission
Alec is a Chartered Forester and has worked in Grants and Regulations for 17 years with the FC. Starting as a Woodland Office in South East England, Alec moved on to work on the development to English Woodland Grant Scheme (EWGS) and the transfer of the Farm Woodland Schemes into the FC’s management FC. Alec worked for five years as a national regulations manager working on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and illegal tree felling. Alec worked on the revisions to the EIA Regulations in 2017 and development of the Woodland Creation Planning Grant and Woodland Carbon Fund. Before his current role Alec was seconded to Defra to project manage development of the England Trees Action Plan, managing this through to consultation.
Dr Rosa Mato Amboage – Economist, Forestry Commission
Rosa is an economics expert in agri-environmental policy and climate change, with experience across the academic, private, and public sectors. Throughout her career, she has been especially interested in supporting stakeholders to realise value from nature-based solutions while delivering climate, environmental and social goals. Prior to joining the FC, she was an Environmental Economics Consultant at Fera Science Ltd., and an Associate Lecturer and Researcher in Environmental Economics at the University of York.
