Help shape your profession – call for Institute Representatives

Do you want to actively help shape your profession? The Institute currently has opportunities for members to represent us on the following sector groups:

  • FISA Steering Group*
  • Forestry Climate Change Partnership

* Please note for this role the representative must be a member of FISA or be willing to join, thus agreeing to support the Accord and act as a FISA ambassador.

All Institute representatives serve an initial two-year term. In addition to attending group meetings, we ask that representatives provide reports to the Institute’s Council and occasional updates for TREES magazine. A fuller briefing document is available on request should you be interested in the role. Representative roles are not remunerated, but necessary expenses will be covered by the Institute.

Benefits of acting as an Institute representative include:

  • actively developing skills, both personal and professional.
  • the opportunity to speak with impartiality and authority.
  • the opportunity to make a difference by influencing policy.
  • the opportunity to build a strong and active network of peers.
  • actively shaping the future of your profession.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Professional Members and Fellows of the Institute. If you are interested in representing us, please provide a short statement (max. 400 words) covering how your skills and experience could best be used in this role.

As an Institute representative, it is expected that any views and opinions shared on panels or groups are that of the Institute and not your own personal views, or those of your organisation(s). All representatives are expected to follow the Institute’s Code of Conduct.

Send your application to the Institute’s Senior Technical Officer, Shona Smyth MICFor, via shona.smyth@charteredforesters.org by 5pm on Friday 24 February.
