Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards – Winners Announced

The winners of Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards 2012 have been announced at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh.

The SFW Awards scheme rewards well-managed commercial, educational and social woodland projects which provide a range of benefits for our biodiversity, communities and economic well-being.

Summarising this year’s event, SFW Director Peter Wilson said:

“Scotland’s woods and forests are a truly sustainable resource, offering places for employment and economic development as well as places to promote and sustain health, wellbeing and learning. They provide valuable habitats and conservation sites, help to green-up our city environments and, of course, form a spectacular backdrop to the scenery of Scotland that is so admired by our visitors. All of these aspects of Scottish forestry are worth celebrating, and the efforts of those involved are worth rewarding. This year we have a very worthy group of winners, whose projects and schemes managed to stand out from some extremely worthy competition.”
