ICF in Student Recruitment Drive at Royal Welsh

ICF Stand 2

The ICF Team will be attending Royal Welsh Show to promote forestry and arboricultural careers

Increasing UK demand for qualified graduates has prompted a recruitment drive for forestry and arboricultural students at the forthcoming Royal Welsh Show, 21 – 24 July. The Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) are teaming up with five Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) to promote forestry and arboricultural careers and offer advice on the wide range of courses available.

ICF will be joined by Bangor University, Harper Adams University, Inverness College UHI, University of Cumbria and Warwickshire College in hosting an exhibition space, where potential students can find out about the wide range of career paths within the forestry sector and the best routes to chartership.

Demand for Forestry Graduates

Prof Julian Evans OBE FICFor, ICF President, and Russell Horsey, ICF Deputy Director, will be attending the four-day event to represent the Institute. Russell said:

“With such growth in the UK forestry and timber industries and subsequent client demand, forestry companies are increasingly turning to graduates to meet their staffing requirements. The Royal Welsh Show is a fantastic opportunity for us to make ourselves available to talk careers for four full days, and I would encourage anyone with an interest in forestry or arboriculture to join us for a friendly chat.

“We are especially pleased that five of the leading HEIs for forestry and arboriculture will be there with us to answer questions directly and showcase the wide range of courses on offer in the UK.”

The Royal Welsh Show 2014 is hosted by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society to exhibit the best of Welsh livestock, food, drink, crafts and rural activities. The ICF careers exhibition will be located in the Forestry Section at Stand 786.
