Job responsibilities
- The production of UKFS compliant woodland management plans utilising the Forestry Commission template
- GIS mapping to support the above and all woodland management operations
- Application to the Countryside Stewardship scheme and subsequent management of grant contract monitoring and related claims
- Knowledge and understanding of the FSC certification scheme
- To be conversant with current health and safety, regulatory and environmental legislation
- The preparation and implementation of annual woodland budgets and reports
- Responsibility for the implementation and delivery of the full range of forest management operations to include both property maintenance , contracting and harvesting works
- Experienced in the planting, establishment and maintenance of young broadleaved and conifer crops on both restock and new planting sites
- Management of thinning, felling and coppicing operations with the knowledge to undertake detailed timber assessment, marking and measuring
- The ability to communicate with woodland owners, government representatives and other stakeholders in a professional and confident manner
- To be able to operate independently with support of the senior woodland manager / company director
Professional qualifications & experience
- A minimum 3 years experience in forest and woodland management
- National diploma or degree in forestry or other land based degree
- Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body is desirable
- Clean & full driving licence essential
Salary £40-50k dependant on qualification and experience.
Company vehicle, pension and annual performance related bonus.
