Job description

Do you have a passion for creating and managing woodlands that benefit people, wildlife and the climate? Do you have the skills and experience to help us achieve our ambitious goal of planting over 1000ha of new woodland in The Mersey Forest?

The Mersey Forest is one of the largest and most successful Community Forest programmes in the UK. We work across Cheshire and Merseyside with a wide range of landowners and community groups to plant and manage woodlands that help tackle climate change, enhance biodiversity and improve health and wellbeing.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Woodland Establishment Advisor to join our team and help us deliver our vision. You will provide expert advice and support to landowners on tree planting, woodland establishment and management, as well as identifying and developing new opportunities for woodland creation. You will also manage funding applications, contracts and budgets, and ensure high standards of silviculture and project delivery.

You will have a degree in Forestry or a related land management subject, or equivalent experience, with a good knowledge of project budgets, costing and project management. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with a variety of clients and partners. You will be target driven, positive, innovative and proactive. Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body is desirable but not essential.

This post is employed through Community Forest Trust, working as part of The Mersey Forest Team, and based at Risley Moss, Warrington. It is likely that hybrid working will continue with home and office working. The role is a full-time permanent position, subject to funding.
