Job description

Future Woodlands Scotland is a Charity working to create and conserve native woodlands in Scotland. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager(s) to join our small and friendly team to manage the Future Woodlands Fund – a programme of financial incentives to enable the creation and conservation of native woodlands.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Finance & Operations and Communications Managers, the Project Manager will be responsible for the development and management of the Future Woodlands Fund to ensure it is managed effectively, efficiently and on budget.

The Candidate

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in forestry or a relevant discipline
  • A minimum of five years demonstrable experience in woodland creation and management including experience of native woodland creation
  • Experience of working with land managers including farmers and community groups
  • A working knowledge of Scottish woodland grant schemes and application process
  • Enthusiasm for native woodland conservation and management in Scotland
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills demonstrating the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with land managers, agents and contractors
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload
  • Competent and self-reliant in QGIS, Microsoft Teams, Excel and Word applications
  • An enthusiastic, flexible and positive approach
  • Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body is desirable.
