Scottish Forestry is looking to recruit somebody with good partnership working skills to lead delivery of one of the activities contained in the Scotland Forestry Strategy, namely “Supporting efforts to enable the sustainable transport of timber and mitigate risks of potential negative impacts”. You will also be heavily involved with “Encouraging and supporting innovation, research and development, and the adoption of new technologies and practices throughout the wood fiber supply chain” and wider business innovation in the forestry sector.
You will manage the Strategic Timber Transport Fund (STTF). This will involve close collaboration with colleagues in Transport Scotland and a wide range of stakeholders in local authorities and the forestry sector. Linked to transport, but also part of the innovation element of the role, is developing the decarbonisation of timber transport. You will be looking for other opportunities for innovation at a variety of scales, for example bio-refining or non-timber forest products, to support rural development and work closely with other colleagues in the team when interests, such as skills development, overlap.
Candidates should be chartered or working towards chartered status.
