Job description

The Brocklesby Estate is located in northern Lincolnshire, on the edge of the Wolds and is home to the Earl and Countess of Yarborough. It has been owned by the Pelham family since the mid-1500s. The Estate covers around 11,000 hectares and is a progressive, diversified, yet traditional estate.

The Brocklesby woodlands total almost 1,500 hectares of well managed mixed broadleaf and conifer woodlands throughout the main estate, with outliers to the south at Croxby and to the west near Scunthorpe.

The Estate is looking for a Forestry Supervisor to lead on the delivery of the Woodland Management Plan in close conjunction with the Agent and external consultant. The post will involve the practical management of forestry operations, grant monitoring, oversight of the Estate’s firewood business and leading on its tree risk policy.

The ideal candidate would hold both a formal forestry qualification but also have practical experience in forestry operations including machinery and chainsaw use. Candidates should be chartered or working towards chartered status.

The Estate is working with a forestry consultant and it is expected that mentoring will be carried out by the consultant with the successful candidate, with the aim to develop the individual to move into a more strategic position within the next 3-5 years.

Housing may be available if required.

To apply, please send a CV and covering letter to john.everitt@chatsworth.org.
