The Scottish Forestry Trust is seeking an Executive Director to lead and administer the affairs of the Trust and to support the Trustees in the delivery of the Trust’s charitable objectives.
This is an exciting role at a period of growth and change for the Trust where the Executive Director can play a pivotal role engaging with the forestry and timber technologies sector to ensure that the Trust supports research, education and training to meet both current challenges and future needs.
In addition to managing ongoing administration of the Trust key tasks to be completed in the first year include the successful transition of The Scottish Forestry Trust to a SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation), establishment of an operational Hylobius Research Fund and relationships established with two new donors.
The post is part-time, and the post holder is at present the sole employee of the Trust. The workload varies throughout the year but is expected to average up to 2.5 days per week (to be agreed). No set working days are prescribed and, with the exception of a need to attend certain meetings throughout the year, the post holder has considerable flexibility over the work pattern. A salary of £46,000 -£50,000 pro rata plus benefits will be offered.
Office space is provided within the office of the Confederation of Forest Industries (Confor) in George Street in Edinburgh, but the post holder will be able to balance home working with office attendance. The Trust is considering employment of part time administration support and the arrangements for this will be discussed with the incoming Executive Director.
