We are currently looking for an Area Manager to join our team in Selkirk. This is a permanent, full-time role with an expectation of being present in the office at least 3 days per week.

In this varied role, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team to manage land and forests, focusing on timber production, sustainable practices, climate adaptation, carbon sequestration, biodiversity enhancement, and recreational facilities. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and mentoring the forestry team
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental laws
  • Managing budgets and work programs for operations like timber harvesting and peatland restoration
  • Engaging with external stakeholders and maintaining professional relationships
  • Supporting staff development and well-being.

We are seeking a candidate with significant skills and experience in forestry to ensure the effective management of our diverse land areas.

The South Region covers areas from the Tweed Valley to the Isle of Arran and the Solway Firth. Our work includes harvesting over one million m³ of timber annually, replanting thousands of hectares, restoring peatlands, creating new woodlands, and maintaining recreation facilities.
