A Strong Future: Taking us into our Second Century
As the climate and nature crises intensify, our work as tree professionals has never been more important. Over the last three years, we have heard escalating warnings from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and watched the UK host a COP meeting in Glasgow. Government policy in all administrations has responded quickly on woodland
creation, less so on agricultural transition, and many issues remain, not least a severe shortage of skilled tree professionals to enable these ambitions to be realised.
Our new five-year Strategic Plan sets out how we will ensure that the profession plays a central role combatting the climate emergency and biodiversity crisis,
securing the importance of forestry and the Institute for the next 100 years.
