ICF President and Executive Director speaking at Accelerating Woodland Creation Conference

The Institute’s President, Sharon Durdant-Hollamby FICFor, spoke at Accelerating Woodland Creation and Management 2021.

Sharon joined a panel discussion about the critical role of trees in a green recovery, alongside Paul Brannen, Director of Public Affairs at CEI BOIS; Stephanie Rhodes, Delivery Director – England Tree Planting Programme, Forestry Commission; Dominic Driver FICFor, Head of Land Stewardship, Natural Resources Wales; and John Lockhart, Chairman of Lockhart Garratt Ltd.

The conference concerned how to achieve goals for woodland creation and management in England and Wales. With the new England Trees Action Plan, a new National Forest for Wales, and international summits on nature and climate later this year, it couldn’t be a better time to bring everyone together. Forestry Minister Lord Goldsmith and Welsh Government Minister Julie James both gave an address. The conference welcomed a diverse audience, which will be needed to tackle the unique challenges we now face.

The Institute’s Executive Director, Shireen Chambers MBE FICFor, led a discussion on workforce and skills alongside Associate member Jemima Letts and Mike Cresswell MICFor in a pre-recorded video available via the conference platform. There were many other chartered members on the programme – find out more here.
