ICF Executive Director gives evidence at EFRA Select Committee meeting

On 16 June 2021, Shireen Chambers MBE FICFor gave evidence to an EFRA Select Committee concerning tree planting, woodlands and what is needed to meet government targets.

Shireen’s main points addressed the importance of cross-government coordination in meeting the aspirations of the England Trees Action Plan, the potential for well-designed and managed woodlands to meet a wide range of objectives, and the paramount importance of working with the professionals to make this a reality.

Caroline Ayre MICFor, National Manager for England at Confor, also gave evidence during the session regarding regulatory barriers to planting faced by farmers and other landowners. Other contributors included Hamish Macleod, Public Affairs Advisor at BSW Timber Group and Jen Turner, Development Manager at the Royal Forestry Society.
