This is a joint England and Wales webinar that will provide an update on woodland establishment in areas with waders, and woodland establishment and restocking on or near peatlands. The event is being led jointly by Defra, Natural Resources Wales, Natural England, Forest Research (FR) and the Forestry Commission (FC).
Morning session
- Outline of current research on trees and waders in the uplands
- How balancing the need to establish trees and recover wader populations is being managed.
Afternoon session
- Demonstration of FC and FR’s new England-focussed Forest to Bog online restoration tool
- Natural England presentation on the range of capital grants and incentives available to restore peatlands
- Overview of woodland establishment and restocking on or near peatlands in Wales and England.
Please note that there will be an opportunity for a panel discussion after each session.
