North Scotland: Climate Change, the Future Occurrence of Forest Fires & Being Prepared

Join the regional North Highland group for an event in response to the Moray wildfire that spread 10 miles last April near Dallas, Forres. It will take place on 11 March 2020 at the Houldsworth Institute (Dallas Village Hall). Teas and coffees will be served from 9.30AM (meeting will begin at 10.00AM) and will finish by 3.00PM.

Morning session in Village Hall: presentations from a wildfire group, Scottish Fire & Rescue and Scottish Forestry.

Afternoon Session: travel to Dallas complex to look at fire from April 2019 (harvester on site).

The following topics will be covered at this event:

  • Industry guidance for forest planning for wildfire resilience
  • Updates from Fire and Rescue service
  • Wildfire Risk Assessments / wildfire Group

PPE: hi-vis/helmet may be required due to proximity to harvester – this will be confirmed nearer the time.
