ICF South Scotland: Practical Hylobius Management
Are you up against pine weevil when it comes to re-planting? If you answered yes then this event is for you.
In the morning, Roger Moore of Forest Research will acquaint us with the Hylobius life cycle and update us on developments with the Hylobius Management Support System.
Hugh MacKay, Forestry and Land Scotland, will talk about their programme-based approach, using the HMSS as a tool to make practical management decisions.
After a light lunch (provided) we will travel 20 minutes to a local forest to see billet trapping in action and inspect Sitka transplants treated using novel methods of control against Hylobius.
Chris Hardy from Maelor Forest Nurseries will talk about the history of trial work carried out, what worked and what didn’t, and where we are heading next.
Tim Liddon FICFor, Tilhill Forestry, will bring the day to a close where he will be summing up recent developments in public-private sector research partnerships and upcoming publications.
Attending this event will provide you with up to seven hours of CPD.
