Forestry Facing the Future: A 50-Year Horizon Scan
Opening the Forestry Facing the Future series, this first webinar will discuss two of the 15 issues outlined in the paper ‘A horizon scan of issues affecting UK forest management within 50 years’.
- Issue 2: Increased drought and flooding change the social costs and benefits of trees
- Issue 7: Trees are at the heart of future urban planning
Trees are able to limit the impacts of flooding, but in drier regions can potentially deplete local water resources and conflict with other water uses. Trees in cities can provide multiple benefits including attenuation of rainfall.
How can we balance the benefits and disbenefits of trees and how do we put trees at the heart of urban planning? We invite you to be part of the discussion.
