2019 ICF North England: Green Streets – Making Space for Trees

Book now

city greenspaceThe Green Streets (registered trademark of the Community Forests Trust) initiative is setting new standards for integrating quality Green and Blue Infrastructure within major highway improvements funded by West Yorkshire Plus Transport Fund. This includes protection of existing trees and building in sustainable tree planting, plus naturalised SUDS and other green features, together with well-designed opportunities to encourage cycling and walking.

Adoption of Green Streets Principles is a fundamental tenet and is based on establishing a multi-disciplinary approach to urban design from the outset of a project, to ensure that the benefits of green infrastructure, such as improved air quality, sustainable urban drainage, plus creating the setting for investment, are fully realised.

The aim of this seminar is to introduce the Green Streets Principles and provide examples of work that is currently being undertaken in Leeds and Kirklees and to note how this can contribute to the development of the Northern Forest.
