Chartered Foresters champion UK timber industry at Confor conference

Confor’s first major post-pandemic annual conference took place in London on 8 December 2022 and the programme featured a range of Institute members. The conference titled Timber! Why the UK needs the wood – and the trees explored the future of the UK timber industry, the current barriers to progress, changing attitudes and more.

With a great keynote speech from the new Forestry Minister, Trudy Harrison MP, delegates also heard from a number of Chartered Foresters; Michael Hall MICFor (Regional Manager, Scottish Woodlands), Caroline Ayre MICFor (National Manager for England, Confor), Amanda Bryan MICFor (Director, Aigas Associates), Graham Taylor MBE FICFor (Director, Pryor & Rickett Silviculture) and David Robertson MICFor (Director – Investment and Business Development, Scottish Woodlands).

The Institute’s Head of Policy & Partnerships, Jemima Cooper, and Senior Technical Officer, Shona Smyth MICFor, attended the conference, connecting with a number of members and colleagues from the sector.
