Membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters

Chartered membership of the ICF is internationally recognised as a badge of excellence. Once you achieve Professional membership of the ICF you can practice as a Chartered Forester or Chartered Arboriculturist, giving you a competitive advantage over non-members in recognition of your success. Membership Grades

Student | Subscription Fee: £10

You are a full or part time student of a UK higher education institute, studying Forestry, Arboriculture, or a related subject.

Associate | Subscription Fee: £101

You have a higher level qualification in forestry, arboriculture or a related subject. You are either already employed or are looking to join the sector in the UK, and wish to become chartered. Associate members have 15 years from joining to become chartered.

Professional Member (MICFor) | Subscription Fee: £284

Route 1: You have completed Professional Membership Entry (PME) and have been awarded chartered status. This is a four-step exam process, consisting of a two-year work record, career profile, critical analysis and a professional interview.

Route 2: You have completed Assessed Professional Competence (APC) and have been awarded chartered status. This route is for senior professionals ONLY and is not the standard route of entry. It requires the demonstration of relevant experience over a minimum of 15 years, five of which must be at a senior level.

Fellow (FICFor) | Subscription Fee: £407

You have held chartered status for more than five years, and have a minimum of 10 years professional experience.
