The Educational and Scientific Trust
The Institute’s Educational and Scientific Trust was established in 1984 as a charity to advance education in all aspects of forestry. A Trust fund has been established from donations and other gifts and it is managed by a group of Trustees which includes the President and Vice President of the Institute.
The Trustees are empowered to use this Fund to:
- encourage forestry education;
- promote public lectures, demonstrations or exhibitions on forestry subjects;
- provide grants to enable recipients to study forestry at technical colleges or training establishments at home or abroad, all with a view to assisting the recipients to qualify or improve their qualifications for a career in forestry;
- acquire or lend literature and photographic equipment for approved purposes.
The Trust target group is students and others at an early stage of their forestry or arboriculture career who would benefit most from financial help with their professional development.
For examples of successful applications and the type of proposals funded, see EST Projects.
More information about the funding awards and how to apply can be found on the Grant Information page together with an application form.
The EST is very grateful for donations to the Trust fund. Cheques should be made payable to "ICF Educational & Scientific Trust” and sent to the Institute of Chartered Foresters at 59 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2JG.
