ICF distributes, endorses and sponsors a series of awards throughout the year, to promote education and research and recognise exceptional contributions to both the Institute and the sector.

 

ICF Student Award

ICF Student Award

Each year, ICF presents a prestigious student award to each of the top students in the universities and colleges with ICF-accredited forestry and arboriculture courses.  This is an important accolade at the beginning of a young person’s professional career, and winners benefit from recognition amongst ICF membership.

The  Silvicultural Prize

The Silvicultural Prize

The Percy Stubbs, John Bolton King and Edward Garfitt Prize for Silviculture (The Silvicultural Prize) is awarded annually to the author(s) of a paper published in ICF’s international journal of forest research, Forestry. The winning paper is that which, in the opinion of the Editors, best meets the criteria set down by the anonymous donor of the Prize Fund.

The Institute's Medal

The Institute’s Medal is ICF’s highest award, given for commitment to professional excellence in forestry. Both ICF members and non-members are eligible for this award, and it is usually awarded annually.Previous winners include Ian Ross OBE FICFor and Dr Joan Webber.

ICF President's Award

ICF President's Award

The ICF President’s Award recognises outstanding services to the Institute, either at regional or national level. Awards may be proposed by the ICF President and approved and determined by Council. Winner (s) of this award are normally announced at the following Annual General Meeting of the Institute.

Honorary Fellowship

Honorary Fellowship

Honorary Fellowship of the Institute is reserved for those who may not be eligible for professional membership of the Institute, but who have made a  notable contribution to the advancement of forestry knowledge or for any other reason consistent with the objects of the Institute. Previous recipients of this accolade include Sir Harry Studholme,  The Right Reverend James Jones and Kevin McCloud.

ICF Journal Awards

Forestry is ICF’s international journal of forest research, published by Oxford University Press on behalf of the Institute. Every year the Institute issues a series of awards for outstanding papers and reviews from the Journal.
