ICF on Final Countdown to Green Economy Conference

New Speakers Confirmed 

The final programme for the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF) National Conference, Woodlands and the Green Economy – Capitalising on Ecosystems Services, has now been confirmed with some exciting additions to the line up of over 20 of the UK environmental sector’s top professionals.

The ICF’s flagship national event takes place on 1 and 2 May at the Hilton Glasgow Grosvenor Hotel. The conference is open to all tree and environmental professionals, and looks set to deliver a programme packed with exceptional speakers and corporate clout. All those wishing to attend only have one week to book their place, as the countdown to the event begins.

The ICF is delighted to announce that Quentin Clark, Head of Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing at Waitrose Ltd., is now joining the session on Corporate Responsibility.

Earlier in the conference, Dr Roddy Fairley, Programme Manager at Scottish Natural Heritage, will speak to delegates about defining ecosystems services.

Other new additions to the programme include Dr Peter Glaves, Director of Enterprise and External Engagement, Northumbria University, who will chair a session on ecosystems services and the importance of valuing them.

The newly-confirmed speakers complement a programmed packed with corporate clout and industry high fliers, including:

  • Judy Ling Wong, Honorary President of Black Environment Network, an internationally recognised pioneer in the field of ethnic participation in the built and natural environment and a major voice on social inclusion.
  • Simon Petley, founder Director at EnviroMarket Ltd, specialising in risk and finance aspects of sustainable land use and working with Forestry Commission England, scoping out new ways of attracting private capital to woodland creation
  • Tom Tew, Director and Chief Executive of The Environment Bank, working with Government, developers, planning authorities and conservationists to deliver a new approach to mitigating the impacts of development, using conservation credits and biodiversity offsetting.
  • Eva Zabey from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, a CEO-led organisation of forward-thinking companies galvanising the global business community to create a sustainable future for business, society and the environment.
  • Stephanie Hime, Lead Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Specialist at KPMG and a Senior Environmental Economist who has worked on the design and development of ecosystems services and valuation frameworks.
